Chicken noodle soup might be one of the easiest ways to nourish a family. Cook a chicken (buy a rotisserie), make broth (or buy high quality), saute veggies, add noodles and mix everything together. Easy peasy soup.
Imagine my surprise when I saw this label at Costco for chicken soup. What a list of ingredients (including sugar)! Note the names for MSG on this list: autolyzed yeast extract, yeast extract, natural flavors, carrageenan, spice extractives, yeast extract (second time on the list). My husband is highly sensitive to MSG and it causes a host of symptoms for him: flu like symptoms, full body rash, and headaches.
Now that the weather is beginning to cool, consider having soup once a week. It’s easy, frugal, and so nourishing! Here’s a 30-day Soup Challenge Cookbook by a blogger that helped us early in our food journey.
Two Yummo Chicken Soups to Try
Ranch Chicken Soup (Crack Chicken)
Parents Visit + Volleyball
My parents visited Tuesday and saw our renovated kitchen in person. They said, as well as others who see it for the first time, that it is much bigger in person than pictures depict. We ate soup and easiest peasant bread for lunch, laughed at chickens then ate cinnamon rolls before heading to Caroline’s volleyball game.
Cinnamon Rolls Become Pizza Rolls
I’ve been on a cinnamon roll kick lately. My fav recipe for a big batch is from the Pioneer Woman. However, if you don’t need 4 pans and you want them to still taste amazing on day 3, be sure to try out the King Arthur recipe for Perfect Pillowy Cinnamon Rolls. It’s not hard. Just takes time. It’s even super yum if you change up the filling for savory and use sauce + pepperoni & cheese. Note: I double the recipe and it isn’t too much for my KitchenAid mixer. As written, the King Arthur Recipe isn’t enough for my hungry family and this recipe tastes great for days (if they last that long!)
Phoebe’s Sweet Serves
Phoebe is a 13yo from church, skilled at volleyball and found herself in need of funds to play for a club team. Enter my passion to encourage entrepreneurs!
After chatting with her mom, we decided for Phoebe to come over for a baking session and crash course in all the things entrepreneurial. She now has a Facebook page as well as Instagram account.
This girl is rising to the occasion! She is learning at a rapid rate how to manage her time and energy. I’m so very proud of her. Last weekend she sold individual rolls at a volleyball tournament and as time allows she offers 9x13 pans through her social media accounts. This week she’s playing in a tournament in Gatlinburg, TN.
