Cherry Pitter
Once I owned a cherry pitter from at a fancy kitchen store. Loved it. Loaned it to a friend and never got it back. Sadly I can’t remember who it was, else I would ask for it back. Was it you?
I don’t want it back.
Enter a hot tip from Lela, who is A Gal in Her Kitchen on Instagram. She uses a common pen tip! Genius!

Bubbly Sourdough Starter
I’ve realized that keeping sourdough starter on the counter creates a very healthy starter (a bit more active than the fridge). But what to do with the copious production? My kids love these “savory pancakes.” I spoon bubbly starter straight into a hot pan then sprinkle with salt. These are about 2-3” diameter and help the scrambled eggs go down. I suppose you could drizzle maple syrup on them for pancakes but the texture is more like a doughnut.
Scoop & Sift
While in Colorado I visited a kitchen store and bought this scoop that’s a sifter. I love multi-purpose kitchen tools! It now lives in my flour bin.
Tomato Plants in Late June?
Late to staking some tomatoes and this one fell and broke. I’ve added it to a vase of water. It will root and I will stick it in the ground as another plant. You can also do this with tomato suckers.
Moles are problematic in my garden. A few have succumbed to tunnels so this will go in one of the empty spaces.
5 Ingredient Simple Summer Salad (or anytime)
Our neighborhood hosts a potluck to kick off the swim season. I don’t know if I recreated the exact salad I had Memorial Day weekend but this one is very close. It’s very yummy and very easy to throw together.
Life is hard; food doesn’t have to be.
