Definitely trying those bacon,Chipotle eggs! We are old pros at this as I have a gluten allergy and am often low carb. I usually bring my own food because you never know what to expect! I attended a family anniversary where the only offering was squares and cake! Some favorites that show up for our family gatherings are homemade hummus with veggies, jalapeño poppers, Buffalo chicken dip (or jalapeño popper dip) fruit skewers and antipasto skewers, nachos and little caprese salad bites. Great post!
Such a great post! My husband and I were just discussing the food choices in our home group last night — four kinds of dessert, no salad, no veggie side dish.
For years we’ve been advocating and praying for change in our food choices for kids classes and gatherings. I loved reading how you responded to the presence of the doughnuts on the table, and how they changed the situation. But articles like this make a difference, too. 👏🏻🙌🏻
I can’t wait to try the eggs with bbq sauce! And love the geniuses to store dog food, I don’t have a good system there. I agree with you in the habits and setting yourself expectations. In my health/wellness journey, even eating potato chips can make me not feel good. I don’t struggle around doughnuts and treats anymore. I wish I could enjoy sourdough and a big chunk of it cheese. Maybe someday.
So cool these ideas!

I’m encouraging to hear there’s someone else advocating for better options at church functions. Keep it up! It’s how we change culture!

Hope you try the BBQ sauce and hard boiled eggs soon. 🥰
I have made them at least 3 times now, they are delish!!!!
And I’ve been lucky to have home canned pickles for the top!
Great post Julie! Good ideas for snacks for my community group!
I hope you get to use them for the holidays coming up!
